US Patent and Trademark Office is Hiring a Government Information Specialist Near Alexandria, VA

Duties

The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.This position is telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy. If selected for an interview, applicants are encouraged to discuss telework options and eligibility specific to the position in which they applied with the hiring manager.

  • You're a detailed individual who can conduct analysis and reviews of proposed Privacy Act, System of Record Notices (SORNs) or Information Collections to ensure they are complete, provide justification, show practical utility and meet or exceed Privacy Act/Paperwork Reduction Act requirements, and are cleared and certified by appropriate authorities.
  • You're an effective writer who can draft and coordinate the clearance of information collection requests including, but not limited to, supporting statements, non- substantive change requests, 60- and 30-Day Federal Register Notices, and PRA sections of rules within the requirements of 5 CFR 1320.
  • You're interested in conducting detailed analyses of the functions and work processes related to Records and Information Compliance Program Office (RICPO) processes and products and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • You're proficient at drafting streamlined forms to meet mission needs and ensure compliance with the PRA, PA, Federal Records Act (FRA), etc.
  • You're committed to providing sound advice, guidance, and technical assistance to all of the organization's offices and staff regarding form creation, modification, and use; recordkeeping; handling and solicitation of information.
  • You have experience preparing data call submissions as required by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and other entities, including, but not limited to, the annual Information Collection Budget report and ad hoc reports.
  • You have a keen eye in analyzing and reviewing proposed regulations and legislation for the impact on the agency's information management.
  • You enjoy writing agency policies and procedures to include provide training and outreach material to be utilized agency-wide.

Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-11. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience supporting an Agency-wide Privacy Act (PA) program or Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) compliance program(s);
  • Experience advising senior leaders and/or customers on the methods and procedures for obtaining and maintaining Privacy Act (PA) and Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) compliance; and/or
  • Experience supporting a forms management program.
GS-13
For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-12. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience administering an Agency-wide Privacy Act (PA) or Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) compliance program(s);
  • Experience advising senior leaders and/or customers on the methods and procedures for obtaining and maintaining Privacy Act (PA) and Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) compliance; and/or
  • Experience administering a forms management program.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at these grade levels.

This is a Bargaining Unit position and represented by The National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 243 (NTEU 243)
